About Me
Hi there, I'm Emily (she/her) currently located in Kingston, New York. The majority of my background is as a social worker providing advocacy and support for vulnerable and marginalized populations of women and children. I spent near a decade in the shelter system of NYC on the Bowery, where I provided both direct care and clinical supervision. I carry over these skills of ensuring my clients are treated with respect and their needs are met during times of crisis into my role as a trauma-informed birth doula.
In 2015, I made my way to the West Coast for a few years and fell in love with herbalism with a particular passion for fusing food and herbal medicine. While maintaining clear boundaries that I cannot provide medical advice, my approach integrates traditional herbal remedies to alleviate pregnancy discomforts, promoting a healthier and more comfortable experience for both you and your baby. After getting the ok from your midwife or doctor, Iād love to assist in creating herbal syrups and teas or trouble shoot issues as they arise with an herbalism lens.
In my free time I enjoy making pottery, creating messy art with my two kids, playing board games no one wants to learn, talking a bit too fast, and of course: all things motherhood.
Draw To Birth Work
My journey into birthwork began with a profound desire to support and empower individuals during one of the most transformative times of their lives. With a background in social work, I have developed a deep understanding of the importance of compassionate, knowledgeable care, focusing on the emotional, mental, and physical aspects of support. Witnessing the strength and resilience of birthing people inspired me to become a dedicated advocate, blending my social work expertise with traditional doula practices and herbalist insights.
Through my experience, I have seen the critical need for prenatal, labor and postpartum support. I strive to create a safe and nurturing environment, ensuring that every birthing person feels heard, respected, and empowered. By advocating for your choices and collaborating with healthcare providers, I help you navigate your birth journey with confidence and peace of mind.
My commitment is to be there for you, offering comfort, insight, and personalized care every step of the way, promoting holistic well-being for both you and your baby.
